Summary
Nuh was pious and truthful. Allah sent him to guide his people and warn them, but they were stubborn. He called them for 950 years. Allah commanded him to build the Ark and take a pair from every species. The Flood drowned all disbelievers.
The Origins of Idol Worship
Five righteous men lived among Nuh's ancestors: Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, and Nasr. After their deaths, people made statues as memorials. Over time, the original meaning was forgotten. Iblis convinced people these statues were gods with special powers. People began worshipping them.
This is how shirk entered humanity — not through deliberate rebellion, but through gradual corruption of honoring the righteous dead.
Nuh's Message
«يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ»
"O my people, worship Allah. You have no deity other than Him. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day." (Al-A'raf 7:59)
Three core realities: divinity (one God), resurrection (death and return), and accountability (Day of Judgment).
