Lesson Content

One short text, corrected with a teacher, reviewed until it is held, then the next level.

Watch the lesson video first, then study this sheet. It holds everything you need for the lesson quiz and the final exam.

Main points

  • The Qurʾān itself was sent down in stages, to strengthen the heart (al-Isrāʾ 17:106, al-Furqān 25:32).
  • Six rules for every subject: memorize a short text, correct it with a teacher, no long books first, do not jump between texts, record benefits, then rise to the long works.
  • Each subject has three levels; a student moves up only after mastering the level below.
  • Knowledge is taken from teachers, not from pages alone; reading alone causes misreading and wrong meanings.
  • Keep knowledge by writing, reviewing and discussing.
  • When a subject is hard: more effort and duʿāʾ (pp. 28-29).

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ صَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ كَمَثَلِ صَاحِبِ الْإِبِلِ الْمُعَقَّلَةِ"The one who has the Qurʾān is like the owner of tied camels: if he watches them he keeps them, if he lets them go they leave."Ibn ʿUmar; al-Bukhārī, Muslim
مَنْ لَمْ يُتْقِنِ الْأُصُولَ حُرِمَ الْوُصُولَ"Whoever does not master the foundations will never arrive."Ḥilya p. 12
